Well my 360 was manufactured in December 2007 so I hope its not the laser. I will move the 360 over to another flat surface to see if that is the case. Seems weird it only does it for a second and then nothing. I'll keep you posted.

Flashed it to 12x. I still get that weird noise as if something is lose in side the 360 but only for a second or two then it stops. Also as I stated before it only happens when I have the 360 off for a while.

My 360 makes a sound that I would compare to an object hitting a piece of metal or glass. It only makes this sound when I start to play a game so I know its the drive and it only does it between the time its loading and the first maybe 4-5 minutes in to the game. Cofree and Jman it was never a clicking its a soft chrrring but not screeching. Your right I hear the drive, damn it sounds like a fan. Yes i hear the drive seeking info thats when the soft chrrring comes in every few seconds, normal?

Seems that way Cofree. Not sure why but it does. The sound is more of disc being spun, but it does not sound smooth at all. It sounds more like a chrrring sound and not exactly a humming or purring sound.

Well you know that initial sound that you hear when you first load a game, chrrring (for lack of a better word) sound well it does that during game. Well I use ImgBurn, 2.4x and Verbs. I also flashed with 5x ixtreme. It only makes sound when spinning also except its a low sounding grrr sound. This my second drive (xbox 360 with Benq) and the first one wasnt as loud as this one.

Cofree you have Benq right? Was wondering if your Benq makes a grrrr kind of sound while playing backups while the laser is seeking info?
